Autumn enjoyment in the Bregenzerwald
The evenings are getting cooler, the days shorter and nature shows itself in its most beautiful orange-yellow hues: the golden autumn has arrived. This most colourful season can be enjoyed particularly well in the mountains before winter announces itself with its first snowflakes. The mountain autumn with its special atmosphere can be experienced not only while hiking - autumn is also a true culinary delight here in the mountains!
Hiking autumn culinary delights
But you can't decide whether you want to hike in the mountains or enjoy autumn on your tongue? Then our holiday fairy has the perfect combination for you: Hiking with Kaiserschmarren and 360-degree mountain panorama!
The first few metres of altitude can be comfortably negotiated with the Steffisalp cable car, from where the hike to the Hochalphütte starts. After about 15 minutes, you should definitely enjoy the view at the Spitzigen Stein - and also take a look behind: there is the blue-green reservoir, which opens up a panoramic view of the Biberkopf. After about 20 minutes you reach the Hochalphütte, where Kaiserschmarren, Heidelbeerschmarren and other usual suspects provide culinary delights. With enough energy, you should definitely make a detour to the panorama lake (approx. 15-20 minutes), which is enthroned on the Salobersattel and glistens in turquoise-blue colours in front of the imposing Widderstein.
Tip: On Saturday evenings, the Hochalp hut offers its culinary highlight "hot stone", which is a real treat for the palate! Dips and hearty side dishes are served - and you can grill various types of meat and fish as well as prawns (vegetarian also possible) to your heart's content on the pre-heated natural stone. The train will take you up comfortably until 5 pm, and you can walk back down comfortably - digestion walk included. 😉

The Bregenzerwald is already known for its culinary delights - in every season! One delicacy in particular lures its connoisseurs to the region time and again: our cheese - rooted in the Bregenzerwald. The cheese paradise ranges from mild to wild and offers the best from local pantries. Along the Cheese Route there is everything to discover about cheese and above all: to taste! The Bregenzerwald Cheese Route offers everything on the subject of cheese, from alpine dairies and cheese makers to museums and inns, and lets you experience the Bregenzerwald with all your senses (all year round)!
But that is by no means all! The Bregenzerwald turns into a true gourmet's corner in autumn. From 16 September to 09 October 2022, the region has a lot to offer in the way of culinary delights!
All cheese: from the traditional Käsknöpfle party at Villa Maund, about cheese enjoyment on the nostalgia train "From the "Wälderbähnle" to the cheese fondue, everything revolves around the Bregenzerwald delicacy!
Delicacies with a programme: There's no such thing as just snacking! The Bregenzerwald offers more - would you like a guided tour of the farm? Or a tour of the village? Or would you prefer a morning pint with musical accompaniment? With pleasure!
Autumn time is game time: and this time can be enjoyed particularly well in our regional restaurants! How good it is that our hunter family lives around the corner and packages their own game in regional delicacies in their traditional inn and makes it a pleasure for everyone.

Cheese.wine.enjoyment on the museum train: Already held several times and popular with passengers. This Saturday, delicious cheese variations and varieties of Wäldar Win will be served in specially signposted carriages.
Cost: EUR 15.00 for the cheese and wine tasting. The train ticket must be purchased additionally.
Friday, 30 September 2022, 3:00 pm at Hotel Gasthof Adler, Schoppernau
Villa Maund in the woods of Schoppernau/ Hopfreben attracts visitors with its culinary delights and its history. The historical and culinary journey starts at the Hotel Adler. Klaudia Moosbrugger guides you along the F.M. Felder Weg. An aperó awaits you in the villa and afterwards we invite you to a traditional Käsknöpfle party. Minimum 20 persons.

Natalie Läßer, certified sommelière, combines selected cheeses and wines in the wine cellar of the Sonne for sensory tasting at a high level.

The best alpine dairymen and women in the country are welcomed with their specialities and awarded prizes. Cheese lovers from near and far find their way to the Bregenzerwald to taste the best cheeses and visit the market with regional handicrafts.
Friday, 07 October, 08:00-18:00, Alpine Cheese Dairy, Bezau
Cheese production can be observed for yourself via the visitors' walkway or discovered under expert guidance. After the tour, all kinds of hard and semi-hard cheeses are tasted. In addition, there are fine delicacies such as raclette bread and much more. Activities for children. No registration required.
